My Lover From A Far

I again awoke to mist on the water, that sounds so much better than pollution in the air. That balcony comes in handy when you just want to see the real China pass you by.

THREE GORGES
China is made up of small water ways that have since been flooded by the damn. The small villages and towns are either buried or will be soon. It is sad in so many ways, but the damn will save so many lives from flooding.

MY LOVER AND THE SAMPAN
Doesn’t that sound like the best movie or book to read. After going up the gorges in a pretty good size boat, we finally came to some sampans. Waiting was our captain. He took us up even farther up the gorges. During our float, there were villagers that were stationed periodically singing or playing Chinese instruments. The government flooded their farmland, they are now paid by the government to entertain the tourists.

During our float the captain got up and sang a song. After the song, I asked our tour guide what he sang about. He said that it was a song about people living on each side of the gorge and it was many hours to climb down to other side, so they would sing across the gorge at each other and if they liked each others’ songs, they would then climb down to meet each other and hopefully one day marry. How sweet!

There are coffins placed just below the ridge line in the cervices of the cliff. They don’t know how they got there, or who engineered it to be there. They believe the higher your body is placed towards heaven, the closer you are to God. I think I will cremate my body and put in a kite towards heaven, hopefully it will work.

DRAGON IN THE ROOM
That night the ship again put on some entertainment of Chinese dancing with Feug dogs and dragons. Quite beautiful and entertaining
