A home with a view

Off to the cave homes and churches of Cappadocia. You got to see it to believe it.

My friend, Leslie, she has switched, sorry hubby.

Pam and I got a little carried away with the vendors.

These mountains were filled with homes that people lived in and are still living in in some areas.

There has to be a camel at every port, Bill was tempted, but no go.

The cave church walls were painted with these beautiful frescos.

The pressure of buying from the locals. We all enjoyed a lunch with the local rug makers. It was fun until the pressure got to us to buy that just perfect rug for our homes. But we resisted.

With this lovely assistant, Ammie was tempted for this rug...

Ammie got a little bored and decided to sell this hat for the vendors.

Cappadocia is known for the red clay to make pottery from. This pottery isn't any ordinary pottery. This pottery house makes reproductions for the Blue Mosque. The pottery isn't flamed with paint, but with crystals. They were shown in the Metropolitan Museum in New York as being so famous. They have their own family design. So of course I had to buy a piece.

I bought this one, it is the family's own design. It has a million little evil eyes on it. I need all the good luck I can get.

You say whirling dervishes all around. Dilek explained the religious ceremony prior to arriving and so you knew you were going to see something very spiritual. Because of the spirituality again no pictures during the ceremony, so I am cheating a bit.
