Give me a little piece of the U.S.

Off to Konya, the textile capital of the world. This is where your levis were birthed. Konya is also where most of the airforce military is stationed, so of course Pam got her F16 kick for the trip. But on our way we must stop to the nearest thing to the Silk Road. "Caravanserai of Agzikarahan" These are very large buildings that were used during the Silk Road era. It allowed the vendors that were passing through to take safe haven for three nights, free food, lodging and taking care of their animals. This allowed the Silk Road to be safe from robbers and thieves. The buildings were 50 km apart from each other along the road.

Once into our hotel, shopping, shopping shopping comes to mind. The four of us headed for the mall which was right across the street. It didn't take us very long to find the nearest thing to the U.S. "McDONALDS" Yes we had to, not that we love McDonalds, but we just wanted a little piece of home.

Before leaving Konya we visited Rumi. Yes my thought exactly who is Rumi? Mevlana Celaddin Rumi was a religious philosopher for the Seljuk order. Trying to be closer to God he found himself whirling to the music of the industrious metal workers. After his death his followers continued with the order and hence the "Whirling Dervishes." They are a very strick and devote order. If there had been anything I didn't think I was going to enjoy, it would have been Rumi's Tomb. I have to say it might have been one of my favorite places to visit. Unfortuntely for you and me, there are no photos taken inside the tomb.

Okay somebody else I know took illegal pictures, I had to post just because it was so beautiful in there. Sorry to all of Rumi's followers.
